Make banking feel like a smart advisor

The Problem

Traditional banking apps show you data. Zentra makes it mean something.

Most banking apps are digital ledgers — they list transactions, show balances, and leave you alone to figure out if you're doing well or badly. Zentra was designed to bridge that gap with intelligence.

📊
Data Without Context
Users can see their transactions but have no way to understand patterns, spot problems, or make improvements without doing the analysis themselves.
🤷
No Guidance
Banking apps treat every user the same — no personalized advice, no spending coaching, no proactive alerts that actually help behavior.
🔒
Card Control Anxiety
Users who suspect fraud or lose their card have no fast, intuitive path to protect themselves — freeze flows are buried or confusing.
💸
Sending Money is Stressful
Transferring to contacts should be instant and clear. Legacy apps make it a multi-screen ordeal with unclear feedback on what happened.

✦ The Differentiator
AI Insights — The Feature That Changes Everything

The AI Insights screen — powered by machine learning — is what elevates Zentra from a banking app to a financial advisor. It doesn't just track spending. It tells users what their patterns mean, celebrates progress, and gives actionable recommendations to reach savings goals. This was the most intentional design decision in the product.

AI Insights Screen
Design Decision
The monthly summary card at the top of AI Insights leads with positive reinforcement — "You're doing great!" — before surfacing the breakdown data. This isn't just a nice touch: behavioral design research shows that framing progress positively before surfacing problem areas increases engagement and reduces anxiety. The spending breakdown uses color-coded progress bars that make budget status scannable in under 3 seconds.
Design Approach

Every screen reduces friction and builds trust.

Zentra was designed around three principles: speed (core actions should take fewer than 3 taps), clarity (no ambiguous states — every outcome is communicated explicitly), and warmth (the app should feel like it's on your side).

01
Onboarding
Minimal friction signup with biometric security setup that feels empowering, not bureaucratic
02
Core Banking
Add money, send money, view transactions — all designed to complete in 2–3 taps with clear confirmation
03
Card Control
Freeze, unfreeze, view details — immediate card controls with Face ID confirmation for security
04
AI Intelligence
Spending analysis, pattern recognition, proactive recommendations and monthly financial summaries
Key Screens

Designed for how people actually use banking.

Every flow was stress-tested against real user behavior — what happens when something goes wrong, what do users need to feel confident, what information needs to be visible and when.

Onboarding
Signup & Security Setup

From splash screen to fully secured account in 4 screens. Biometric setup is presented as a benefit — "Bank-Grade Security, Quick Access" — not a requirement, with a graceful skip option that respects user autonomy.

Welcome Screen Create Account Biometric Setup You're All Set
Design Decision
The "You're All Set!" biometric confirmation screen uses a bold green success icon and minimal copy. After the friction of signup, users need a moment that feels like a genuine reward. This screen is designed to do exactly that — zero information, maximum positive emotion.
Home
Dashboard — Command Center

The home screen shows total balance, income vs expense trends, the 4 primary actions (Add, Send, Request, Convert), and the AI Insight card — all without scrolling. The AI card is the hook: it surfaces a personalized spending insight immediately, making every visit feel valuable.

Core Flow
Send Money — Full Flow

6 distinct states designed for one flow: recipient selection, amount entry (with quick-select amounts), confirmation, pending, completed, and failed. Every state communicates exactly what happened and what the user should do next.

Send — Select Recipient Send — Enter Amount Send — Amount Selected Send — Confirm
Transfer Pending Transfer Completed Transfer Failed
Design Decision
The failure state is critically important. "We couldn't send $500.00 to Mom. Your money is safe." — the first thing users see reassures them their funds weren't lost. The warm, direct language ("to Mom" not "to the recipient") maintains the human tone of the product even when communicating bad news. This is fintech copywriting as UX design.
Core Flow
Add Money

Quick-select amount chips reduce keystrokes for common top-up amounts. Multiple payment sources shown in one place with a transparent fee note. Completion state leads with the action taken, not a generic "success."

Add Money Add Money — Amount Selected Money Added
Card Management
Cards — Control & Security

Designed for the moments users are most anxious — suspected fraud, a lost card, an unauthorized charge. The freeze flow uses a vivid frozen-card illustration and Face ID confirmation, making the action feel serious and secure. The frozen state clearly communicates what is and isn't available.

Cards Active Freeze Confirm Card Frozen
Transaction History
Transactions & Detail View

Transactions are grouped chronologically with category icons and color-coded amounts. The empty state uses a polished 3D illustration — even a "no results found" moment feels intentional. Transaction detail surfaces date, time, location, card used, and reference IDs — full transparency on every charge.

Transaction List No Transactions Found Transaction Detail

Profile & Settings

Clean, editable profile with verified status indicators. Security settings surface prominently. The design keeps personal information accessible without feeling exposed — a balance critical for financial applications.

Outcomes

A complete fintech product experience.

Zentra demonstrates the ability to design a sophisticated, AI-integrated financial product — with every state, edge case, and emotional moment considered.

1
AI feature that transforms banking into financial coaching
01
AI features need to feel earned, not random
The AI Insights screen works because it's grounded in real spending data and presented with a consistent voice. "Powered by machine learning" under the header earns the AI positioning. The insights have to feel accurate and specific to feel trustworthy.
02
Failure states are where trust is built or broken
Especially in money transfer, the moments when things go wrong are when users need the most reassurance. Leading with "Your money is safe" before explaining what failed converts a potentially panic-inducing moment into a manageable one.
03
Warmth is a design strategy, not just a tone
Using first names in the greeting, referring to contacts by relationship ("Mom"), and leading with positive framing aren't soft details — they're the experience decisions that make Zentra feel fundamentally different from a standard banking app.
